This is some of my most used products of end tackle. I like to try out new products on easier venues, but seem to stick with tried and tested stuff harder waters.
Lead core is my preferred leader material for 90% of my fishing.

Fluro carbon leaders are what I like to use fishing in clear water, or margin situations and shallow water. Has a soft texture seems to prevent fish spooking on touch. Also fished with 3inches of braid hook link material is an excellent way of catching them out. This rig I prefer fished over small food items, such as maize hemp and also pellet.
On the small amount of fishing I do on using pop-ups a D-rig is the way I think to go, as tying hook baits on is more effective then piercing the pop-up. Because hook bait will quickly take on water lose buoyancy and dramatically affect the effectiveness of the rig itself.
In my fishing I have seen too many complicated rigs. I like to keep it as simple as possible, most of my fishing is done using the hair rig around 9 inches in length of a strippable coated braid of material a small hook tied with a long hair. Also a small piece of lead putty to keep the rig down. Remember to check knots and hook quality on every cast. |
