From the beginning of December Simon asked me to put the Jellywire and the new Claw hooks through there paces. I must admit that I hadn't come across a decent coated braid that had the stiffness and the subtleness when required, but also the ability to be able to tie a knot that didn’t split the outer skin.
This excellent new material had all three. I had been fishing a pop up in the chod and new that the Jellywire in brown would match the bottom perfectly along side the Atomic Dung bomb. It’s hard for me to change hooks just for the sake of it but these "Claw" hooks had everything I would generally look for, strength, in-ward curving point and a wide gape.
I’m pleased to say that this combination of the Jellywire (brown), Dung bomb and the "Claw" hook have turned up trumps this winter and banked me some nice fish including the "Big Lin" at 39lbs. |
